How to add Message to Shopify checkout
Install Checkout Ninja from the Shopify App Store, open the checkout editor, and drag the Message block into the section where you want it. Then configure it in three steps. No theme code, no checkout.liquid, and it survives every Shopify update because it runs on Checkout Extensibility.
Add the field
Drop a Message block, set a label and helper text.
Configure limits
Min/max character count. Required/optional. Show counter or hide it.
Surface on the order
Value flows to the order, packing slip, and your custom-print provider via Shopify's order API.

How does this differ from Text Input?
Text Input is single-line, Message is multi-line. Both share the same validation and order-attribute behaviour.

Can the message hide prices on the packing slip?
Yes — enable the gift mode option on the field. Prices are suppressed from the packing slip for that order.

Is there a character limit?
Up to 500 characters. Set a lower max if you need to.
